PDO/PGI/TSG Protected designation of origin/protected geographical indication/traditional specialty guaranteed

Since 1992 at European level,  rules have been introduced for the first time for the protection of geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs. The underlying Regulation (EEC) 2081/1992 was then further modified and extended in 2006 (Regulation (EC) No 510/2006) and 2012 (Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012).

The relevant requirements are laid down in Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 November 2012 on quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs.

As part of the amendments to the amendments to the Regulations, new graphic labels or logos for EU-wide protected designations of origin were established by means of Annex V to Regulation (EC) No 1898/2006, which initially could only be used voluntarily. With the modification in 2012, these signs are now mandatory.

Guaranteed traditional specialty (TSG)

agroVet GmbH has already been established as an inspection body for haymilk TSG and is accredited for this standard. The agroVet GmbH can make inspections and certifications for hay milk TSG. The approval applies to all production areas (agriculture, processing and trade).

agroVet inspects haymilk TSG according to Commission Regulations (EU) and its implementing rules on the entry of a name in the register of guaranteed traditional specialties (TSG) on the basis of Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21.November 2012 on quality standards for agricultural products and food. The specification haymilk is inspected in synergy with the inspection of GM-free feeding and the AMA quality label for milk production.

Our strength is that we are able to offer these inspections in combination with other inspection services from agroVet GmbH and Austria Bio Garantie GmbH so that we can save time and money for our customers.
